Identify types and degrees of hearing loss and how it may affect the student in the classroom setting.
Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications for students who are d/hh, based on their individual needs.
Know the different types of hearing technology and assistive listening devices available and how they work.
Understand the role and responsibilities of educational interpreters and how to work collaboratively with them.

Objectives:
Explore and analyze a variety of business structures.
Provide tools for participants to identify which structure best fits their individual needs.
Work through the steps required to move forward with legally organizing an interpreting business.
Review bookkeeping softwares and practices to streamline business processes.
Discuss how to utilize each in order to simplify taxes.
Explore different approaches to determining rates.
Discuss current industry standards and how to apply those standards to the drafting of contracts.

Intended Audience: Deaf Education teachers with a focus on itinerant teachers.
Objectives:
Understand the basic workings of the ear.
Read an audiogram to determine type and degree of hearing loss and how it may impact an individual’s daily interactions.
Know the different types of hearing technology and assistive listening devices commonly used and how they work.
Identify strategies for creating a conducive learning environment based on hearing needs.
Implement hearing loss and self advocacy lessons for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students.

Intended Audience: Interpreters of all levels with a focus on educational interpreters
Objectives:
Describe the basic workings of the ear.

Implement accommodations and interpreting strategies that promote a conducive learning environment.

Possess a working knowledge of the parts of an IEP and terminology used in the IEP process.
